Kanawha River Terminals, located in the heart of Central Appalachia, is easily accessible to both coal producers and customers. Coal is the number one commodity shipped along the Big Sandy River, Ohio River, the Kanawha River, and nearby waterways dubbed the "Ohio River Basin". And the numerous coal-burning power plants along these waterways are the number one users of coal.

KRT continues to meet the needs of our customers as they develop, or change, their coal requirements. Environmental regulations are causing some plants to make significant structural changes, which, in turn, will shift their coal requirements. As these modifications are made, we will also amend our processes to ensure continued reliability of both product and service.
